Guitar Hero: Aerosmith

Anyone who played Guitar Hero 3 and liked it was probably waiting for this game. I rented it on Monday, for $8. Incidentally, the price to rent video games at Blockbuster has gone up through the years. But that’s another story. Anyway, I popped in the game Monday night, and looked at the first two sets of songs. To my dismay, half of the songs were Aerosmith songs. I’m not a big Aerosmith fan at all. I can’t say I didn’t expect Aerosmith songs, due to the game’s title. But not 1/2 Aerosmith!

Then I did career mode, and figured out the encore songs were Aerosmith songs too. There were three Aerosmith songs per each 5-song set. Unfortunately, the band has 5 or 6 hits only, so lots of songs nobody’s ever heard of are thrown in. And, they suck. Also, there are only 31 songs in the game, (about 10 non-Aerosmith songs) and 8 bonus, you guessed it, Aerosmith songs. Some are by Joe Perry’s band. Perry is the lead guitarist of Aerosmith.

There’s no new characters, except for Joe Perry and some other guy, two or three new guitars used by Joe Perry, one new finish for guitars as far as I know.

In conclusion, this game is Aerosmith overkill to the tenth power, with lousy songs and Guitar Hero 3 copied and pasted into the game. I would rate it a 4 out of 10.

  1. Let me first say I dislike aerosmith with a burning, fiery passion. There famine characteristics and high pitched, whining neo pop type sound drives me nuts. As for Guitar Hero, I am not a fan solely for the reason that I suck at the game with a passion….plus it is a spin-off of the mega-hit game “DDR”

  2. I second your passionate dislike of Aerosmith, for the same reasons.

  3. Wow what did you expect.

  4. not that much Aerosmith kevin, that’s all.
